FAQs

How much is a boiler service?

You can expect to pay around £80 for a boiler service by one of our Gas Safe engineers. Some people choose to buy boiler insurance for 24/7 cover which also includes a free annual service. We can send out yearly reminders as well, in case you should forget.

Annual servicing is important for two obvious reasons; first of all, ensuring your boiler is operating correctly and at optimum efficiency and secondly, making sure it is safe for you and your family.

How long does a boiler service take?

Your annual boiler service by one of our Gas Safe engineers should only take an hour or two if no major faults or problems are found.

How often should a boiler be serviced?

You might be asking yourself ‘are annual boiler services really necessary?’. The answer is most definitely yes. Your boiler should be serviced annually. In fact most, if not all, boiler warranties demand regular servicing especially as some faults can develop that do not show any obvious signs.

Your boiler is heavily used every day from turning on the tap to taking a shower or bath to turning up the heating on a cold night. And bear in mind, if a combi-boiler breaks down, you lose both hot water and central heating, which can be very uncomfortable – especially in the colder, winter months!

While most faults are annoying, for example, having no hot water when you want to take a shower or radiators which are slow to heat, some faults can also be dangerous if ignored.

Furthermore, energy costs are at such high levels, you really need to make sure your boiler is in tip top condition, working in the most efficient manner possible and ultimately saving you money wherever possible.

What does a boiler service include?

A boiler is a heavily used piece of equipment so several tests are necessary. The gas pressure and flow is checked, the fans are tested for efficiency, all the seals are tested to ensure they’re not worn and all the electrical connectors are tested.

In more detail, our engineers will inspect all the main boiler parts including the heat exchanger, the burner, the sensor/spark etc and will look for any working faults. The flue will be thoroughly checked for any obstructions, the electrodes will be checked to ensure they’re in good condition, the gas valve will be checked for efficient combustion, there will be checks on the seals for any leaks and parts will be cleaned as necessary.

A detailed boiler service report showing everything that our engineer has done will be provided once the job is complete.

“I cannot recommend country plumbers enough. Quick to respond to request for an estimate, (which was very reasonable), turned up on time to carry out boiler service and was very efficient and polite.
